The enemy defeated

Hello, God has given me something today in 1 Samuel 31:2 which says, “And the Philistines overtook Saul and his sons, and the Philistines struck down Jonathan and Abinadab and Malchi-shua, the sons of Saul.” (ESV)

So, what God has given me, is, that David (in this book of the Bible) is for the Philistines, because Saul was the Israelite king, and he had pursued David, so that he could kill him, and God has now destroyed (in the process of destroying) the enemy (Saul’s sons). Jesus (at the cross) defeated the enemy, yes the devil still does temp us, but Ephesians 6:11 says, “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.” (ESV) So we can (and should) put on the armor of God, so that we can stand firm against the devil’s schemes.

God had given the Israelites into the Philistines hands, because David was for the Philistines, and (just like Samuel said) after a time of pursuit, Saul’s sons die, Saul kills himself, and his armor bearer kills himself, so, we do need to run (pursue) to Jesus for help, so that we can withstand the evil one. James 4:7 says, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” so we need to resist the devil, so that he will flee from us, and because Jesus died on the cross, for us, with our sins, we can stand strong in Him, and resist the devil.
