Hello, God has given me something today in 2 Samuel 2:26 which says, “Then Abner called to Joab, “Shall the sword devour forever? Do you not know that the end will be bitter? How long will it be before you tell your people to turn from the pursuit of their brothers?” (ESV)
So, what God has given me, is, that first Asahel chases Abner, and this guy will not stop, the chapter says he was swift-footed, and Asahel was killed by Abner, so Asahel’s brother, Joab, comes and chases Abner, and Abner is warning Joab, so the reason I used this verse, is to point forward to the cross, Jesus is our brother, our co-worker, and we crucified Jesus, Jesus died for our sin, and now we can live knowing that we are forgiven of our sin.
Even with verse seven, the men of Saul still attack the men of David, and that is the way we are, Jesus is our brother, He never sinned, ever, He even went through temptations like we do, and He did not do wrong, He did not sin, so why did we crucify Him? Because it was God’s will, and the Pharisees hated Him, we returned love, for hate, and yet Jesus still died on the cross for us.
Do you believe in Jesus, and that He died for you, with your sins?
