Hello, God has given me something in 1 Kings 12:28 which says,
“After seeking advice, the king made two golden calves. He said to the people, “It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem. Here are you gods, o Israel, who brought you out of Egypt.”
Whoa, whoa, whoa, wait a minute, what is going on? We can totally see how this guy is SO not seeking advice from God. God was the one who brought them out of Egypt, not some dumb, lifeless, golden hunk, in the form of a cow! Hello, anybody in there, because the Israelites already had some experiences with a golden cow, and God was not happy. God is a jealous God, He does NOT want other gods in His place. Did a cow buy you with its own life? No? I didn’t think so, but Jesus purchased us with His own life, He died on a cross in our place.
Jeroboam was seeking advice, because he was afraid that if the people went up to Jerusalem, they would go back to worshiping God, and have Rehoboam as their king again, so he made to golden things for them to worship, “Here you go, you guys get to worship chunks of gold!” But do you see how crafty the devil is? The devil knows two things, first, that they have fallen into this trap before, and they might fall for it again, and second he makes Jeroboam say, “It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem.” as if he cares about them, Jesus cares about us, and loves us so much, that He died on the cross for us, so that we can go to heaven.
The devil has done something like this before, in the very beginning, he deceived Eve to eat out of the tree that God told them not to eat from, Genesis 3:1-7 says,
“Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.'” But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths.”
God loved Adam and Eve too, He killed an animal, and gave them the skin as clothes, and He did not kill them as soon as they sinned. God gave us mercy, and love, too, at the cross, He gave His only son, to die on a cross for us. The animal is a picture of Jesus, He died in Adam’s and Eve’s place, and we are Adam and Eve, we sinned and Jesus gave His life for us on the cross. THANK YOU JESUS!!!!
