Hello, God has given me something in 1 Kings 15:13 which says,
“He even deposed his grandmother Maacah for her position as queen mother, because she had made a repulsive asherah pole.”
He (King Asa) is a really brave man, for his grandmother though, this means she is no longer queen mother, thanks to her grandson, he got rid of every idol, and sinful thing, that is detestable to God, even his grandmother. I like the word the writer uses, “repulsive”, but that is how God feels about sin, it is repulsive to Him.
King Asa is a picture of Jesus, because he was king of Judah, and he got rid of all sin, Jesus died on the cross and took away our sin, and King Asa threw all the sinful things out, Jesus died on the cross in out place, with our sin, and he took the wrath of God on Himself, so now we can go to Heaven! THANK YOU JESUS!!!!
We should get rid of idols, and sin in our lives too, although we are not perfect, we shouldn’t be OK with sinning, Romans 6:1-4 says,
“What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.”
Although we aren’t perfect, we should do what Paul says in the passage above, but without Jesus, that is impossible, because when He died on the cross for us, He made it possible for us to go to Heaven, Philippians 4:13 says,
“I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.”
