Hello, God has given me something in 2 Kings 6:5-6 which says,
“As one of them was cutting down a tree, the iron axe head fell into the water. “Oh, my lord,” he cried out, “it was borrowed!” The man of God asked, “Where did it fall?” When he showed him the place, Elisha cut a stick and threw it there, and made the iron float.”
This was great for the man who borrowed the axe head. He #1 got to see a miracle and #2 got the axe head back. God really worked through Elisha to get the axe head. God is so good, He even gave His son for us.
How do we see the gospel in this? We are the axe head. Jesus is the piece of wood, and God is Elisha. We are sharp to make excuses for our sins, then God sent His son born of a woman, under law (Galatians 4:4-5) . And Jesus died on the cross for us, He gave His life for us, bringing us up out of our sins, and making us sharp to share the gospel with others. Galatians 4:4-5 says,
“But when the time had fully come, God sent His son, born of a woman, born under law, to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons.”
Jesus died on the cross for us, and the piece of wood represents the cross. Jesus brought (and bought) us up out of our sins, and set us free from sin and into His pasture.
Peace and love, Joy Cleveland
