Under siege

Hello, God has given me something in 2 Kings 17:5 which says,

“The king of Assyria invaded the entire land, marched against Samaria and laid siege to it for three years.”

Siege: A siege is where one country or king takes control of a town or city. This happened to Israel. Sieges are horrible for the city or town under the siege. And that is why it points to the gospel.

Us!?: We were under a siege. A siege of sin. We were caught in the trap of sin, and there was no way to get out. We were stuck. Then Jesus came, and He died on the cross for us, He took the siege onto Him self, and set us free into His pasture. Psalm 23:1-2 says,

“A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.”

His pasture: God’s pasture is wonderful. We can worship Jesus all we want, and feed on the wonderful grass, or the Bible. We can drink from the wonderful water of the Holy Spirit, and all while our shepherd, Jesus, is watching us. He is the gate. This doesn’t mean that we’ll live in the pasture and all will be well. No, the wolves try to get into us, and snatch us away from Jesus. This may be a time of testing. A test of what? Our faith. God does protect us and love us, but the devil will still try to get us, we need to put on the armor of God and stand firm.

Closing: Jesus died on the cross for us. Do you have faith in Him?

Peace and love, Joy Cleveland.
