Hello, God has given me something in 2 Kings 25:7 which says,

“They killed the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes. Then they put out his eyes, bound him with bronze shackles and took him to Babylon.”

What did Zedekiah do?: Zedekiah was the king of Jerusalem, and he got the punishment of seeing his sons die and then getting blinded then bound. The last thing he saw was all his sons dying. So, how did he get this punishment? God said He would punish Him, but for what? Zedekiah stopped following the Lord. He did evil in the eyes of the Lord, according to 2 Kings 24:19 which says,

“He did evil in the eyes of the LORD, just as Jehoiakim had done.”

What about us?!: We sin too, so we do evil in the eyes of the Lord, so, why haven’t we died yet, or emediently? One word is the answer. This answer will cause the devil to stumble, it can calm storms and waves. This word is: Jesus! Jesus’ death on the cross for us. He died on the cross for us, He gave His only life for us. How is someone’s death on a cross so important? First, we were deep in our sin, and we deserved punishment, and second, Jesus is just someone, He is the Son of God! He took our punishment. God sent His only son for us, John 3:16-17 says,

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”

Closing prayer: Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for loving me so much that You gave Your only son for me. Thank You, Jesus, for giving Your own life for horrible wretches like me. I pray that I would love You more, and follow Your example. Thank You for giving up your crown in heaven for a crown of thorns. Thank You for taking on all my sin. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Peace and love, Joy Cleveland
