Hello, God has given me something in 1 Chronicles 7:11 which says,

“All these sons of Jediael were heads of families. There were 17,200 fighting men ready to go out to war.”

Israelites: The Israelites were ready for battle, they had lots of men ready for battle. Paul talks about being ready for the evil one. I’m going to talk (type) about our Christians life, and how we get it. The Israelites are a good example here. They were ready for any enemy that might attack.

Life: We need to be ready (Ephesians 5:13). Our Christian life includes standing firm, worshiping Jesus, fighting battles, and focusing on the gospel. Why do we need to do these things. Lets go through each one.

First: standing firm. Why do we need to stand firm? We’re suppose to go with the flow of life, right? Row your boat down the stream. Nope. We need to stand firm against the flow of life, sharing the gospel with others. Letting them know about how Christ died for us, so that they can stop going with the flow of life, and live in Christ. If we go with life, we will quickly leave the christian life and float along with all the others.

Second: Worshiping Jesus, why don’t we just say thanks Jesus and go along about our day? If we did that we would forget about how Jesus gave His own life for us on the cross. We would fall. If we didn’t thank God and worship Him, then we might worship other gods. We were made to worship, and we are supposed to worship Jesus.

Third: Fighting battles. Why should we do that, can we just make peace with everyone? If we did that we would be serving two masters, which is impossible. You can either serve Jesus, and fight on His side, and have His support, His wins. If we serve the devil then we will die spiritually. We would rot to the devil delight. We can’t do both. We can’t live and die at the same time. Like a lion, he can’t be a lion and a monkey.

Fourth:  Last but very important, Focusing on the gospel. Why would we need to do that? We would fight the battles right? We would fight, and lose. Without the strength of the gospel, we would lose every battle. We would lose our footing. We would spiritually die. The gospel is the main point of the Bible. Everything in the Bible is focused on how Jesus gave His own life for us.

What if: What if we worshiped Jesus fought battles, and focused on the gospel, but didn’t stand firm? We would not be able to fight we would lose our footing. We couldn’t worship Jesus because we are slipping away from Him we would lose sight of the gospel. What if we stood firm, worshiped Jesus and focused on the gospel, but didn’t fight battle? We would stop worshiping and quickly be overcome by the devil. We would fall stop worshiping and be overtaken by the devil. We need all four.

Closing prayer: Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for helping us fight our battles. Thank You for letting us worship You because You died for us. Thank You for dying for us. I pray that we would focus on the good news of how You died, and still stand firm. I pray that the underground church would do all the four things: worship Jesus, fight battles, stand firm, and focus on the gospel. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Verses and passages:

Stand firm, Ephesians 6:13,

“Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.”

Beginning verse, 1 Chronicles 7:11,

“All these sons of Jediael were heads of families. There were 17,200 fighting men ready to go out to war.”

Peace and love, Joy Cleveland
