More and more

Hello, God has given me something in 1 Chronicles 11:9 which says,

“And David became more and more powerful, because the LORD Almighty was with him.”

The Lord Almighty: God gave David power. God was with David, and because of that, David won. David won against the Jebusites. He won against Goliath. He was not captured by Saul. David won thanks to God. God gave David power to win. David, in his own strength, could never have defeated Goliath. But God was on his side. God did give David power to fight. God enabled David, even though he was sinful (as we all are). David got more and more powerful in God.

Sin: David did wrong (2 Samuel 11:2-4) but we can’t look down on David. We all do wrong. Ever since we were babies. If we don’t have the right instruction that sin and selfishness could grow and get worse. Have you ever though about how people get to the point of murder? They don’t just decide one day to kill someone, it starts with a thought. Maybe a though of hate, which grows to figuring out ways to injure them, which turns into murder. This doesn’t happen over a month, it takes several months or a year or even more. You have to nourish the thought in order for the idea to grow. Even though sin is so bad we are all born with it.

Gospel: If God is perfect and He hates sin, then why are we still alive. THE GOSPEL! Jesus gave His life for us on the cross. He died in our place. He became sin for us. God gave His only son to die on the cross for us that we might be the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21). Jesus gave His life for us.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for giving Your life for us. Thank You for sending Your only son for us, Lord. I pray that You would give us more and more love for You. I pray that I would be closer to You, and be kinder to those around me. I pray that the underground church would rejoice in their time of suffering. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Verses and passages:

Righteousness of God, 2 Corinthians 5:21,

“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”

Beginning verse, 1 Chronicles 11:9,

Peace and love, Joy Cleveland
