I’ll help you

Hello, God has given me something in 1 Chronicles 19:12 which says,

“Joab said, “If the Arameans are too strong for me, then you are to rescue me; but if the Ammonites are too strong for you, then I will rescue you.”

Rescued: Joab is talking to his brother who was in charge of some of the troops. If the Ammonites were to  strong for Abishai (Joab’s brother) then Joab would help, if the Ammonites were to strong for Joab then Abishai would help. The brothers would help each other.

Us, and our saviour: We were in a sinful condition, horrible. We were lost in our sin. We had gone into satan’s kingdom with our leash of sin willingly wrapped around us. There was almost no hope at all. We were in the ditch digging our way “out of it”. Then, Jesus came down, and He became sin for us. He died on the cross for us. He gave His own life so that He could save a bunch horrible, worldly, evil, mean, spiteful, angry, wretches that are wallowing in our sin. He made us the children of God. Thank You Jesus!

Application to our lives: How does this verse apply to our lives? I can see two ways we can apply this with the gospel. #1 We needed to be rescued. Our enemy had already come apon us fast, and we didn’t have armor. Then comes our soon-to-be brother. He comes and rescues us from our sin. He came and saved us, and made us His brothers and sisters, and mothers.  #2 We are christians and we are struggling with some sin issue. Then comes our brother-in-Christ (or sister) who helps us. He/she strengthens us in the fact that Jesus died on the cross for us.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for giving Your only son for us. Thank You, Jesus, for dying in our place. I pray that we would remember Thanksgiving and be thankful. Thank You for giving us Your son for us. Thank You being our best friend and brother in time of need, Jesus. Thank You for always being there for us, and for becoming sin for us. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
