Hello, God has given me something in 1 Chronicles 22:9-10 which says,
But you will have a son who will be a man of peace and rest, and I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side. His name will be Solomon, and I will grant Israel peace and quiet during his reign. He is the one who will build a house for my Name. He will be my son, and I will be his father. And I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.'”
Solomon: David is telling Solomon what God told David about Solomon. God told David that he had killed to many people, so David would not be the one to build the house of God. God told David that his son Solomon would be a man of peace, and that Solomon would build the temple. David encouraged his son, and told Solomon that he had many helpers, and a lot of supplies.
Us: How does this apply so us? We couldn’t be God’s sons and daughters, not after we’ve sinned so much, right? We surely couldn’t build God a home. We don’t deserve that. We are horrible wretches that shake our fists at God when things go wrong, and smile and say, ‘I did great’ when things go right. Isn’t that backwards? God is the one who gives us the good times, and any mistakes that happen are from us, though God does test us, it is to help us be more like Him. Why, if we are so sinful, hasn’t God just done away with us? We deserve to be in hell right now. So why aren’t we?
Answer: Jesus! Why aren’t we in hell? Because Jesus came down and became sin for us, and died for us in our place. He gave His own life for us. Now we can have Jesus live in our hearts as the temple of God, and we can be sons and daughters of God. He gave His life for us so that we can be the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21 says,
“God made him who had no sin to be sinfor us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
Application: How does this apply to us? Jesus came down and died for us taking our sin, so now we are the temple of God. We are the sons and daughters of God, like Israel, and God makes His house in our hearts. If God opens our eyes and hearts and by His mercy lets us hear the gospel, about how Jesus became sin for us and died in our place, and three days later rose again, then we will be saved. Thank You Jesus!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for giving Your only son for us in our place. Thank You for letting me know about how You gave Your life for us on the cross, Jesus. I pray that I would be more like You, and love You more. Thank You for loving us so much that You gave Your son for us, Lord. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Peace and love, Joy Cleveland
