Bless the Lord

Hello, God has given me something in 1 Chronicles 23:13 which says,

“The sons of Amram:
   Aaron and Moses.
Aaron was set apart, he and his descendants forever, to consecrate the most holy things, to offer sacrifices before the LORD, to minister before him and to pronounce blessings in his name forever.”

Offering: God required that certain people who He chose would be the ones to offer the sacrifices to God, and minister before Him and pronounce blessings over Him. In order for all the people to live they had to do that. Why? Because they were sinful. We are all sinful, and our sin requires a sacrifice.

Us: We are sinful, just like the Israelites, so why don’t we offer sacrifices? If we are so sinful, and we don’t offer sacrifices, so why aren’t we dead? We are horrible, sinful, mean, spiteful, angry, God-hating, hope-needing, Jesus-despising, terrible, awful, cruel, wretches, so why aren’t we dead?

Jesus: Jesus is the wonderful, sinless, justifying, loving, God-man, hope-giving, great, almighty, strong, peaceful, glorified, awesome, kind, Son of God, and yet He came down and died on the cross for us. He gave His life for us as the eternal sacrifice, and He let us be sons and daughters of God. Thank You Jesus!

Application: How do we apply this to our lives? The Israelites had to have a certain man who blessed God, but Jesus died on the cross for us, and became sin for us, and now we are sons and daughters of God! We are Jesus’ co-heirs so we should live like it. We can’t be perfect, but in Jesus we can have control of ourselves unlike the heathens. 1 Thessalonians 4:4-5 says,

“t…hat each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God…”

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for giving Your only son for us on the cross. Thank You, Jesus, for giving Your life for us on the cross. I pray that I would love You more, and be closer to You. I pray that I would talk with You more. Thank You for even letting me know about the cross. I pray that I would be kinder to those around me. I pray that You would send a revival around the world. Thank You for dying on the cross for us, Jesus. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Peace and love, Joy Cleveland
