Hello, God has given me something in 1 Chronicles 25:1 which says,
“David, together with the commanders of the army, set apart some of the sons of Asaph, Heman and Jeduthun for the ministry of prophesying, accompanied by harps, lyres and cymbals. Here is the list of the men who performed this service…”
Sons: David and the commanders set apart some of the sons of Asaph, Hemam, and Jeduthun for ministry. God required the sons of those men to minister.
Our condition, and God’s son: Our condition is horrible. We are sinful, mean, spiteful, angry, God-hating, cruel, Jesus-despising, un-godly, evil, hope-needing, wretches. We had almost no hope. We were in the devil’s kingdom. We were lost. And then, God set apart His son to minister to us by taking our place and becoming sin for us and dying on the cross for us! Jesus came down to earth, was beaten beyond recognition, crucified on a cross by the people He came to save, had a Roman soldier pronounce Him dead, was buried, and then raised up on the third day. Jesus died in our place so that we can have eternal life and be the righteousness of God. John 3:16-17 says,
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”
2 Corinthians 5:21 says,
“God made him who had no sin to be sinfor us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
All people: Jesus didn’t just die for the Israelites, or Paul, or the “elect”, He died for all people. 1 John 4:10 says,
“This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”
Application: How does this apply to our lives? We were going to die because of our sin, but then God set apart His son for us to die on the cross for us. Thank You Jesus!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for setting apart Your only son for us from before time to die on the cross for us. I pray that I would be closer to You, and love You more. I pray that I would talk to You more, and have a strong relationship with You. Thank You, Jesus, for giving Your own life for us on the cross. I pray that I would follow Your example, and rejoice in time of suffering. Thank You for humbling Yourself so much for us. I pray that believers who are suffering would stand strong in You, and that You would help them remain in You. I pray that we would remain strong in You in times of trouble and hardship. Thank You for letting me know about how You gave Your life for us on the cross. Thank You for giving Your only son for us, Lord. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Peace and love, Joy Cleveland
