Keep the law

Hello, God has given me something in 2 Chronicles 6:16 which says,

“Now LORD, God of Israel, keep for your servant David my father the promises you made to him when you said, ‘You shall never fail to have a man to sit before me on the throne of Israel, if only your sons are careful in all they do to walk before me according to my law, as you have done.’ “

Careful sons: God promised if that David’s sons walked according to God’s law they could sit on the throne, or become king. They had to obey the law perfectly, and any mistakes they made they made up for with a sacrifice. David walked according to God’s law, by offering sacrifices, and obeying God, though He did sin.

Us: We are so horrible, and sinful, we certainly don’t keep the law, we don’t even offer sacrifices. So why are we still alive? Why haven’t we gotten what we deserve (dying and going to hell)? Jesus! Jesus is the answer. How? He came down to earth, was born of a virgin, grew up perfectly, was falsely accused by man, was beaten beyond recognition, crucified on a cross, and then He rose again on the third day. Jesus died on the cross for us taking our punishment. He died for us in our place. He was and is our perfect sacrifice

Sabbath: So why don’t we keep the Sabbath anymore? We do! Jesus is our Sabbath rest. We rest in Him as our Sabbath, we don’t need to keep a day holy. We don’t need to stop working on the Sabbath, Jesus is our rest, and we rest in Him, not on any day of the week. Jesus died so that we may live, and spread the Good news of the Gospel all around the world.

Sin: Now since Jesus paid for our sin, we can sin and sin all we want, right? NO! We do have flesh, but we can control our bodies, unlike the heathen. We have Jesus living in our heart now. We haven’t kept the law, but Jesus died, and paid the price for us, so that we could rejoice in Him, not our sin.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for giving Your only son to die on the cross for us. Thank You, Jesus, for keeping the law perfectly, and paying the price for us. I pray that You would live in me. I pray that I would follow Your example, and be willing to suffer for You. I pray that You would send a revival, and open people’s hearts, eyes, and ears to the gospel, so that they may experience Your love. Thank You for letting me be a child of God. Thank You for letting me even know about You death for us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Peace and love, Joy Cleveland
