Hello, God has given me something in 2 Chronicles 6:26-27 which says,
“When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain because your people have sinned against you, and when they pray toward this place and confess your name and turn from their sin because you have afflicted them, then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of your servants, your people Israel. Teach them the right way to live, and send rain on the land you gave your people for an inheritance.”
Them: Solomon was asking God to forgive the people’s sins, and teach the right way. Solomon also knew that the Israelites would sin, and that there would be a punishment for their sin, so what does Solomon do? He asks God to forgive them when they come and repent. Solomon also asks that God would teach them the right way to live, and take away their punishment.
Us: We are just as sinful as the Israelites, and we deserve a punishment. What is the punishment? Death and hell. We deserve to die and go to hell. We were almost hopeless, we seemed unable to be freed from our sin. We were stuck, we had almost no way of getting out. So why haven’t we died? We are we still living, and we’re not in hell, why?
Jesus: Jesus is the answer! How? Jesus came down to earth, was born of a virgin, was beaten beyond recognition, and died on the cross for us. Jesus gave His own life for us on the cross in our place. Jesus took on our sin, and died on the cross for us, Jesus actually became sin for us. Thank You Jesus!
Application: How does the 2 Chronicles verse apply to us? We are very sinful, but Jesus died on the cross for us, and now we are forgiven of our sin. Now the Holy-Spirit teaches us the right way to live, not sinfully and lustfully like the heathen. We can now worship God. Now we are forgiven of our sins, and we are being taught the right way to live.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for giving Your only son to die on the cross for us. Thank You, Jesus, for sending the Holy-Spirit to teach us how to live. I pray that I would draw close to You. I pray that You would send a revival. I pray that I would think of You today, and meditate on Your word. Thank You for living in me, and for making me a child of God. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Peace and love, Joy Cleveland
