The finished temple

Hello, God has given me something in 2 Chronicles 8:16 which says,

“All Solomon’s work was carried out, from the day the foundation of the temple of the LORD was laid until its completion. So the temple of the LORD was finished.”

Solomon: Solomon finished his work, and he finished the temple. Solomon had finished his big job, from the day the foundation was laid, until completion.

Us: We are horrible. We are sinful. We deserve to die and go to hell. We were bound for the devil’s kingdom. We were stuck in the pit of sin and trying to get ourselves farther into it. So if we do deserve to die and go to hell, then why haven’t we? Why haven’t we been thrown into eternal torcher?

Jesus: Jesus is the answer! How? Jesus came down to earth, became sin for us, and died on a cross. Jesus gave His own life so that we might live. Jesus made us pure and holy. Now, we can live in peace, knowing that Jesus paid for our sins. God loves us so much that He was willing to die on the cross in our place.

Application: How does the 2 Chronicles verse apply to our lives? Here is what the verse says,

“All Solomon’s work was carried out, from the day the foundation of the temple of the LORD was laid until its completion. So the temple of the LORD was finished.”

Application(2): Let’s say that Jesus is Solomon, and we are the temple. Jesus came down to earth, and lived a perfect life, fulfilling prophesies. Then Jesus died on the cross, He finished the work that He came to do. Jesus laid the foundation by doing miracles and that He was God. Then, He finished the work by dying on the cross for us. John 19:30 says,

“When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.”

Now: Jesus finished His work here, then He sent the Holy-Spirit to be with us. So, does this mean we can sin all we want? BY NO MEANS!  Jesus died so that we might have the Holy-Spirit living in us, not our sin. We do have flesh, but the flesh is not of the heart or soul. Christ lives in our hearts.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for giving Your only son to die on the cross for us. Thank You, Jesus, for making us Your temple. I pray that I would draw close to You. I pray that You would fill me up with Your Holy-Spirit. Thank You for letting me experience Your love, and letting me be Your daughter. I pray that You would send a revival, and open the eyes, hearts, and ears of people to the Gospel. Thank You for letting me know about Your wonderful love for me, and about how You died on the cross for me. Thank You for always being there for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Peace and love, Joy Cleveland
