Humbled and delivered

Hello, God has given me something in 2 Chronicles 12:7 which says,

“When the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, this word of the LORD came to Shemaiah: “Since they have humbled themselves, I will not destroy them but will soon give them deliverance. My wrath will not be poured out on Jerusalem through Shishak.”

Humbled: Rehoboam and all the Israelites with him had stopped following the law of the Lord. Then, the word of God came to prophet Shemaiah, and he prophesied that Shishak would defeat them. But, then they humbled themselves and said that the Lord was just. God heard and the prophet Shemaiah said that Shishak would not defeat them, that God would give them a sure delivery.

Us: We deserve God’s wrath. We deserve to die and go to hell. We are sinful, mean, spiteful, angry, God-hating, Jesus-despising, Holy-Spirit-revolting, putrid, puny, stinking, horrible, wretches. We are bound for the devil’s kingdom, and the path to get there is quick. SO why haven’t we died and gone to hell? Why haven’t we gotten what we deserve?

Jesus: Jesus is the answer! Jesus gave His own life for us. Jesus humbled Himself before God, to not only becoming man, but being beaten beyond recognition, taking on all the sins of the world, and dying on the cross for us in our place. Jesus gave His own life, so that we might have eternal life (John 3:16-17).

Application: How does the 2 Chronicles verse apply to our lives? Jesus came down to earth, and He humbled Himself to death on a cross (Philippians 2:8), and gave us sure deliverance. Thank You Jesus!!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for giving Your only son to die on a cross for us. Thank You, Jesus, for delivering us from our sins. I pray that I would draw close to You, and come to You whenever I need anything. I pray that my relationship with You would be greater than my relationship with anyone else. I pray that I would talk with You more. Thank You for making me Your daughter. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Eternal life, John 3:16-17,

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”

Humbled to death, Philippians 2:8,

“And being found in appearance as a man,
   he humbled himself
   and became obedient to death—
      even death on a cross!”

Peace and love, Joy Cleveland
