Leper

Hello, God has given me something in 2 Chronicles 26:21 which says,

“And King Uzziah was a leper to the day of his death, and being a leper lived in a separate house, for he was excluded from the house of the LORD. And Jotham his son was over the king’s household, governing the people of the land.”

Uzziah: Uzziah had been a good king, but his pride led to his fall (Proverbs 16:18). Uzziah got ready to burn incense in the temple of God. 81 courageous priests went in to confront him, and while they were doing that, God inflicted Uzziah with courageous on his fore-head. The priests left when they saw the leprosy, and Uzziah followed. Then, because he was a leaper, he lived in a separate house while his son governed. Uzziah had leprosy until he died.

Us: We are sinful lepers. Like Uzziah, we are trapped in our sin, dying. We are in desperate need of help. We are prideful, thinking we don’t need God, but inside, our soul longs to be saved. We are like a wanderer, lost in the middle of the desert, thinking we don’t need the fresh cool water of the oasis, but inside, we long for a cool drink of water. What is the cold drink of water?

Jesus: Jesus is the answer. But He is the perfect son of God! Why would He care about dying wanderers? Because, He love us. Jesus actually loves us! How do we know? Because of 1 John 4:10.

Application: How does 2 Chronicles 26:21 apply to our lives? We are like Uzziah the leaper. We have done a horrible wrong, and we are dying in our sin. But, Jesus loved/loves us so much that He gave His own life for us on the cross! Jesus loves us, He loves horrible lepers, so much that He gave His own life for us!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for giving Your only son to die on the cross for us. Thank You for loving me so much. I pray that I would draw close to You, and love You more. I pray that I would cry out to You, and run to You for help. I pray that I would have a great relationship with You. Thank You for turning me from a leaper, to a child of God. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Verse(s):

Pride before fall, Proverbs 16:18,

“Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.”

Love, 1 John 4:10,

“In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”

Beginning verse, 2 Chronicles 26:21,

“And King Uzziah was a leper to the day of his death, and being a leper lived in a separate house, for he was excluded from the house of the LORD. And Jotham his son was over the king’s household, governing the people of the land.”

Peace and love, Joy Cleveland
