Enter the temple

Hello, God has given me something in 2 Chronicles 27:2 which says,

“He did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, just as his father Uzziah had done, but unlike him he did not enter the temple of the LORD. The people, however, continued their corrupt practices.”

Jotham: Jotham was a good king, he followed God’s ways, and did not turn away like Uzziah. Jotham did not enter the Temple of God. Even though Jotham remained good and faithful, the people continued their evil ways. They continued in the ways Uzziah had brought to them, and when Jotham became king, they remained in their evil ways.

Us: We are also evil. We are stuck in our sin, without a good king. Satan is the one who ruled over us, and the world. We are trapped, like a deer who was wandering along, when it’s foot got snared in a trap. We are like a bear caught in a net. We are as good as dead.

Saved: So, who saved us? Jesus. Jesus, the great king of kings, the Lord of Lords, and High Priest of High Priests, gave His life for us. We like a murderer who was put on trial, our offender, Satan. (Satan got us to sin, and then he accuses us) we are hopeless, not knowing what to do, cowering in shame. Then, a man in shining armor, with a glorious face, and loving eyes, comes up and says, “No. I will take their punishment, and shame, and guilt. I will die in their place.” Then we are taken in to the Father’s arms, as Jesus, our hero, is crucified on a cross, for us. We are now bound for heaven, where we will meet our savior, for He has risen from the dead, and is preparing a place for us.

Application: How does 2 Chronicles 27:2 apply to our lives? Jesus is like Jotham, He could have stayed in heaven, without a care in the world for us, but He came down here, and instead of entering heaven as soon as He came down, He saved us, and made us able to enter the kingdom of God. We were rebelling in our sin, but Jesus remained out of heaven long enough, to die in our place, and make us able to go to heaven.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for giving Your son for me. I pray that You would work through me, and help me to spread Your Word. I pray that I would love You more, and believe in You more. I pray that I would long for Your word, and run to You when I need help. Help me to give my cares to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
