Defiled

Hello God has given me something in 2 Chronicles 36:14 which says,

“Furthermore, all the leaders of the priests and the people became more and more unfaithful, following all the detestable practices of the nations and defiling the temple of the LORD, which he had consecrated in Jerusalem.”

Priests and people: The Priests and the people were effected by Zedekiah, Jehoiachin, and Jehoiakim. Jehoiakim did evil in the eyes of the Lord, and once his son, Jehoiachin, was king, he did evil. Then Jehoiachin’s uncle (Zedekiah) became king, and he did evil in the eyes of the Lord. This all had an effect on the Priests and people, they were influenced by all the evilness, so much so, that they defiled the temple of God!

Convert: God is going to punish the people for this. He is going to bring his wrath on them because of their sin. Even now, when we disobey, and do not believe in God, we reap our “reward” in hell. It is so much better to join God’s flock, and believe and trust in Him. Believe that He gave His son for us, and reap the real reward in heaven.

What to do: Christians do things. We worship Christ, we love Him. We should pray and talk to Him. Applying to this passage, one thing we need to do is to not defile God’s temple. We are God’s temple, and some way we would defile it, would be to be a homosexual, or a drunkard. If we do those things (or other things) we are defiling ourselves, and if we’re Christians and we fall to sin, then we’re defiling God’s temple. But, God’ forgives, and cleanses His temple, and He will forgive us.

Christ: Christ is so great, He is mighty, and glorious. He loved us so much that He gave His own life for us. Jesus is THE great and mighty King, He deserves our worship, and even more than that, our lives. He is the only God, and He loves us. Praise His Holy and might name.

Application: How does 2 Chronicles 36:14 apply to us? While Jesus was on earth, He was the temple of God (John 2:19), and though the Jew did not know that Jesus was talking about himself, we do because Jesus died and was raised again on the third day. Well, Jesus was the temple of God, and He took on our sin, defiling Himself for us. Then, He gave His life for us, taking our punishment.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for giving Your son for us. Thank You for loving us so much. Please strengthen me, and help me to truly love You. Please help me to know You more, and really long to be with You. Help me to run to You when I need help, and go to You for shelter. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Verse(s):

Temple, John 2:19,

“Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.” “

Beginning verse, 2 Chronicles 36:14,

“Furthermore, all the leaders of the priests and the people became more and more unfaithful, following all the detestable practices of the nations and defiling the temple of the LORD, which he had consecrated in Jerusalem.”

Peace and love, Joy Cleveland
