Hello, God has given me something in Ezra 3:3 which says,

“Despite their fear of the peoples around them, they built the altar on its foundation and sacrificed burnt offerings on it to the LORD, both the morning and evening sacrifices.”

Joshua: Joshua, his fellow priests, and Zerubbabel, started building the altar. Even though they were afraid of the peoples around them, they built the altar. They were afraid, but they pressed on with the Lords work, and built the altar. They also sacrificed on the altar, according to what was written by Moses.

Christians: Believers and unbelievers both get fear. But the difference is in how you handle the fear. Unbelievers would probably turn on the radio, or TV. Believers have no need to be afraid, we turn to the Bible. Jesus says that we should not let our hearts be troubled (1 John 14:1). We pray, and are comforted. One of the biggest fears of unbelievers is death. They are scared of what is going to happen, but believers do not need worry (Psalm 91:5), we know that when we die, we are going to heaven. So, why not come, and relieve your fear, and rest assured in Christ?

What to do: Christians do things. We worship Christ, and spread the gospel. But, we also do the work of the Lord like Joshua, the priests, and Zerubbabel. We should build the “altar”, or build up the kingdom. We should help set captives free, and help them to see the last sacrifice given at the cross.

Jesus: Jesus is the wonderful, mighty, loving, Son of God. Praise His name, praise Him because of what He has done for us. Jesus has given us perfect love, and that is what drives our fear (1 John 4:18). Give thanks to Him with a grateful heart. Application: How does Ezra 3:3 apply to our lives? Though we are afraid of some things, God is with us, and we can continue with God’s work. Christ died in our place taking our punishment, so we do not have to be afraid. He gave His life so that we can live in Him, and build up the kingdom.

Gospel: What is the gospel? It is what makes Believers comforted. It is what unites us. It is that Jesus came down, and gave His life for us on the cross. He loves us so much, that He gave His own life for us. Thank You Jesus!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for giving Your son for us. Thank You for loving me so much. I pray that I would draw close to You, and love You more. Please help me to talk with You more, and grow more and more like You. Thank You for making me Your daughter. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Don’t be troubled, John 14:1,

” “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.”

Not afraid to die, Psalm 91:5,

“You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day…”

Perfect love, 1 John 4:18,

“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”

Beginning verse, Ezra 3:3,

“Despite their fear of the peoples around them, they built the altar on its foundation and sacrificed burnt offerings on it to the LORD, both the morning and evening sacrifices.”

Peace and love, Joy Cleveland
