Hello, God has given me something in Ezra 7:13 which says,

“Now I decree that any of the Israelites in my kingdom, including priests and Levites, who volunteer to go to Jerusalem with you, may go.”

Volunteers:King Artaxerxes wrote a letter. He said that anyone who volunteered to go to Jerusalem with Ezra, even if they were a priest or Levite, could go. Ezra could have as much help as volunteered. King Artaxerxes’ letter continues to say that Ezra can have all the gold and silver, and that the treasurers of Trans-Euphrates were to give with diligence whatever Ezra asked. King Artaxerxes was being of good use.

Christians: Why not come and join us? Why not volunteer, and be accepted into God’s army? Why not come and enjoy Christ? Why not rejoice in what He has done for us? He loves us so much, that He gave His life for us. Jesus is a great and mighty savior, and He has saved us out of our sins, so why not come and be saved? We are like people lost in a blizzard. We don’t know what to do, we are cold, and we have lost all hope. Then, we see a light, it comes closer and closer, and then appears our beautiful savior. He lifts us into His arms, and brings us home. We are being carried in His arms right now, on our way home.

What to do: Some things we do as Christians are easy to see. But here is one in application to this passage: We are to volunteer to help other believers. We can encourage them in the Gospel. Jesus helped us, He saved us, by giving His own life for us. So we can help our brothers and sisters in Christ by sharing with them a passage or two.

God: Our God is an awesome God. He gave His own son for us on the cross. Give Him praise. Give Him your life, and love Him with all your heart. He is THE almighty God, and He is mighty to save. You can come to Him right now, and be saved. Jesus loves us, and gave His life for us. He deserves more than all the praise on the earth, so praise Him. “Praise God from whom all blessings flow…”. Give thanks with a grateful heart to the one who gave His life and His all for you and me.

Application: How does Ezra 7:13 apply to us? When Jesus came down to earth He had some disciples. But when Jesus gave His life for us on the cross, there were no volunteers to “help” bear His shame. He suffered the sins of the world for us. Now, we can volunteer to help others, and spread the Good news of the Gospel to those who are lost and dying in their sins. We can be messengers of the Gospel, and watch God work through people, and in them, to change the hearts and lives of so many others.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for loving us so much. Thank You for changing my heart. Thank You for giving Your son for us. Help me to grow in You, and to find satisfaction in You. Please God, help me to know You more, and love You more. I want to draw close to You, please help me. Thank You for making me Your own daughter. Help me to grow more and more like You, and follow You. Help me to run to You for help, and cry to You. Help me to give You my thoughts. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Beginning verse, Ezra 7:13,

“Now I decree that any of the Israelites in my kingdom, including priests and Levites, who volunteer to go to Jerusalem with you, may go.”
