Foreign wives

Hello, God has given me something in Ezra 10:11 which says,

“Now honor the LORD, the God of your ancestors, and do his will. Separate yourselves from the peoples around you and from your foreign wives.” “

Foreign wives: The Israelites had taken foreign wives, which had appalled Ezra. The people agreed with Ezra. They made an arrangement, and, eventually, the wives and children would leave.  Ezra was telling the people to honor God, and separate themselves. That is how they would honor God.  They would separate themselves for the foreign people and their foreign wives. They people agreed, they would get rid of their foreign wives.

Christians: We honor God all our lives. He loves us, and blesses us. He helps us get rid of our sin. Why not come, and be set freed from sin? He loves us so much, why not come and experience that love?
He accepts all, and He is mighty to save.  He can save you too. He can help you conquer your sin struggles, and make you more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37). We can do all things in Christ (Philippians 4:13). Why not come to Christ?

What to do: Here is one thing we should do: Honor God. In my last post I said pretty much not to blame God when bad things happen. Here I’m saying that we should honor Him. He gave His own son for us. Give thanks to Him, and honor Him.  Another thing to do, is to separate yourself from the worlds living. They live like heathens. Just as Ezra told the people to separate themselves from their foreign wives, we should separate ourselves from living like the world does. We do not need pleasure in things of this world, but rather in Christ, and His goodness and mercy (Psalm 23:6).

God: God is mighty and powerful. He saves us from our sin. Here the people were going to honor God, and He would turn away His wrath, even though they had sinned.  He is so loving, and He deserves to be praised. Praise Him with all your strength, with all your soul, and with all your mind. Give Him all your praise, and love Him. Jesus gave His own life to cleanse us from sins, and He became the sacrifice for us. Praise Him, and give thanks to Him with a grateful heart. Thank You, Jesus!

Application: How does Ezra 10:11 apply to us? We were full of sin, and we were hanging on to our “foreign wives” (our sin). We were holding on to our sins, and we were sure to die from them. But, Jesus came down, and took on our sin, and died for us. Now, we honor God, and give Him the glory. He saved us from our sin! Thank You, Lord!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for loving me so much. Thank You for giving Your son for us. Please help me to love You more. Help me to draw close to You, and long to be with You. Please strengthen me. Help me to get rid of any sin struggles, and purify me. Please send a revival, and help people all over the world to come to know You, and love You. Thank You for making me Your daughter. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Verse(s):

More than conquerors, Romans 8:37,

“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”

Goodness and mercy, Psalm 23:6,

”Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.”

Beginning verse, Ezra 10:11,

“Now honor the LORD, the God of your ancestors, and do his will. Separate yourselves from the peoples around you and from your foreign wives.” “

Peace and love, Joy Cleveland
