Until the priest

Hello, God has given me something in Nehemiah 7:65 which says,

“The governor, therefore, ordered them not to eat any of the most sacred food until there should be a priest ministering with the Urim and Thummim.”

Ordered: Some people could not find their family records. So, they were excluded from the priesthood as unclean. And the governor ordered them not to eat the most sacred food until a priest ministering with the Urim and Thummim should come. The priest might make some things possible for them. But until the priest ministering with the Urim and Thummim should come, they couldn’t eat any of the most sacred food.

Christians: Christians have already had the priest come. His name was Jesus. He made a way for us to go to heaven. He saved us out of our sins. So, why not come and and be christian? Why not come, and be able to go to Heaven. Why not believe in Jesus, and believe that He made a way, and is the way, to get to Heaven? He will save you, just cry out to Him, and He will be quick to answer. He will save you out of your sin, and will rescue you.

What to do: Here is one thing that we are to do as Christians: Believe in our priest. We should believe that Jesus gave His life for us, to save us from our sins. If the Urim and Thummim priest came to the people they would likely believe in him. And though we can’t see Jesus physically, He is in the Bible, and in other believers. Believe in Christ, and help others to believe in Him too. Christ is the way to heaven, and if we believe in Him, and have faith, then He will save us.

God: God is so good. He is so loving and kind. He is great and almighty. He is mighty to save. Praise Him, for He has given the priest, His son, to save us from our sins. He has given His son for us! Jesus gave His life to be the atoning, perfect, holy sacrifice that would save the world of wretched sinners. He loves/loved us so much. He gave His life for us! Thank You, Jesus. Praise Him for all that He’s done. Give thanks with a grateful heart, for He has given His son for us on the cross. He has saved us by giving His son. Now, we are His sons and daughters.

Application: How does Nehemiah 7:65 apply to us? We were like those who could not find their family records, not accepted into the kingdom of God for our sins. But the priest did come, and save us from our sins, giving us life. Making us a new creation, by giving His own life.  We have been saved by Christ’s death on the Cross. He has saved us. We are now accepted into the “priesthood” or into the family of God. We are now His children.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for giving Your own son for us. Thank You for saving us from our sins. Please help me to run to You for refuge. Please strengthen me, and help me to grow in You. Please help me to love You more, and draw close to You. Please strengthen new believers in You, and please strengthen believers in places hostile to the Gospel and to Christians. Thank You for making me Your daughter, and for loving me so much. Please help me to come to know You more. Thank You for all that You’ve done for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
