Gracious and loving

Hello, God has given me something in Nehemiah 9:31 which says,

“But in your great mercy you did not put an end to them or abandon them, for you are a gracious and merciful God.”

God’s mercy: This is continuing the history of Israel. They didn’t listen to God, they turned their backs on Him. But, God did not turn His back on them. In His mercy He did not abandon them. He did not destroy them. He loved them. He was gracious and loving, and did not destroy them. Even though He had good reason to, He did not abandon or destroy them.

Christians: God does not abandon Christians. He accepts them into His family and does not abandon them. Unbelievers are not in God’s family. Why not come into God’s family? He will not abandon you, or forsake you. He will love you, and make you a new creation in Him. He will love you and never turn away from you. Why not come to Him? Why not be a believer? Why not come and join us, and experience God’s love. Believers can go to heaven, and God will never forsake us, He wouldn’t forsake the Israelites (Joshua 1:5). Why not become a believer?

What to do: Here is one thing that we are to do as Christians: Share God’s grace with others. God has given us His grace. He has loved us so much. Now, we should spread that good news. He has loved us so much. So, share with others the good news of the Gospel. Imagine that everyone is stuck in a pit. Then comes along Satan, he shows us an apple and says that if we keep digging there will be much more delicious fruit. So, we keep digging. Then the ground starts to shake in an earthquake, and Jesus appears. He comes into the pit, and lifts us out. But, He is engulfed in the ground. A new generation is coming, and they are in a pit too. So, why not share the good news of the Gospel with them?

God: God has given His son for us. He has loved us so much. Praise Him. Give Him all your love. Give thanks with a grateful and loving heart. Love Him, for He has loved us so much. He has given His son for us. Thank You, Lord. Thank Jesus for giving Your life for us. He has loved us so much. Thank You, Jesus.

Application: How does Nehemiah 9:31 apply to us? We were stuck in sin, having turned our backs on God. But, God was gracious and He never turned His back on us. He gave His son to save us from sins. He has given us new life, and made us new creations (2 Corinthians 5:17). Jesus loved/loves us so much. He has given us new life. He has given His own life for us. God is so gracious to us, He was gracious and loving with the Israelites, and now He is gracious and loving with us.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being so gracious and loving. Thank You for saving me out of sins. Please help me to love You more. Please help me to draw close to You. Please help me to long to be with You, and to long to be in Your word. Please help me to grow in You, and be with You more. Thank You for making me Your daughter. Thank You for sending Your son for me. Please send a revival. Please strengthen me, and other believers. Thank You for doing so much for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Verse(s):

Forsaken, Joshua 1:5,

“No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

New creation, 2 Corinthians 5:17,

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

Beginning verse, Nehemiah 9:31,

“But in your great mercy you did not put an end to them or abandon them, for you are a gracious and merciful God.”

Peace and love, Joy Cleveland
