Perishing Or Prosperity

Hello, God has given me something in Job 36:11-12 which says,

“If they obey and serve him,(A)
they will spend the rest of their days in prosperity(B)
    and their years in contentment.(C)
12 But if they do not listen,
they will perish by the sword[a](D)
    and die without knowledge.(E)”

Elihu: Elihu is talking to Job (I think) and he says that God despised no one. He said that he made the wicked listen to correction. He said that if they obeyed and served him, then they would live in prosperity. But, if they didn’t listen, then they would perish by the sword, and die without knowledge. He said that even when God fetter the godless in heart, they didn’t cry for help, but they died young. But he said that God delivered those who were suffering. He said that God was wooing him from the jaws of distress to a spacious place without restriction at a table laden with choice foods. But, he said that Job was laden with judgement due to the wicked. He said that God was exalted in His power, and he asked, “Who is a teacher like him?”. But in the verse above, he said that if the wicked obeyed his commands, then they would live in prosperity, but if they didn’t listen, then they would perish.

Christians: Unbelievers are stuck. They are not free from sins. They need help. But, Believers have been saved, and we are no longer in the pit of sin. If you are an unbeliever, then don’t stay in your sin, or try any of man’s ways to “be freed” from sins (drugs, family, etc.). Come to Christ, and He will save you, and make you new. He will cleanse you. So, come to Christ, and be saved from sins.

What to do: Here is one thing that we are to do as Christians: Love. Jesus loved us so much that He gave His life to save us from sins. So, let’s go show others the love of Christ, and let’s love them. Let’s reach out to them, and help them to see what Christ did for us. Let’s also love our fellow believers, and encourage them if they fall. And, let’s love Jesus, because He first loved us. But, we need to love Christ because He first loved us, and love others (1 John 4:19-20).

God: God has given His own son to save us from our sins. Let’s praise Him, and give thanks for all He’s done for us. Let’s rejoice in Jesus, because He has given His life to save us from sins. He has loved us so much, so let’s love Him. Let’s worship Him with all of our hearts! Let’s give thanks, and praise His holy name! Thank You, Jesus! Praise the son of God, who gave His own life to save us! No one else gave their life as a living sacrifice, let’s praise the one that did! Praise Jesus! Praise the Lord, for all that He has done for us!

Application: How does Job 36:11-12 apply to us? Elihu said that if the wicked obeyed God, then they would live in prosperity. But, if they didn’t listen to God, then they would perish. That applies to us too. We were wicked, and we couldn’t obey God. We’ve all sinned and disobeyed God. We deserve to perish in our sins. But, Jesus came, and He was perfect, and He obeyed God. Then, He gave His own life as a sacrifice, and He saved us from our sins. He perished in our place, and now, we are children of God!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father,

Please help me to love You more. Please help me to love others more. Please help me to draw close to You. Thank You for giving Your son for me. Thank You for loving me. Please help me to be more like You, and grow in You. Please help me not to be proud. Thank You for cleansing me. Please help me not to be proud, and please help me to be more thankful. Thank You for blessing me so much. Thank You for making me Your child. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Love because He first loved us, and love others, 1 John 4:19-20,

We love because he first loved us.(A) 20 Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister(B)is a liar.(C) For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen,(D) cannot love God, whom they have not seen.(E)”

Beginning verse, Job 36:11-12,

“If they obey and serve him,(A)
they will spend the rest of their days in prosperity(B)

they will perish by the sword[a](D)
    and die without knowledge.(E)”
