Trust In God, Or Money

Hello, God has given me something in Psalm 52:7-8 which says,

““Here now is the man
    who did not make God his stronghold
but trusted in his great wealth
    and grew strong by destroying others!”
But I am like an olive tree
flourishing in the house of God;
I trust in God’s unfailing love
for ever and ever.”

David is asking some “mighty hero” (according to verse one he is talking to a mighty hero) why he turned to evil. He said that the righteous laughed at him and said that he was the one whose stronghold wasn’t God. They said that he gained his strength by destroying others. Then David said that he was like an Olive tree, and that he flourished in the house of God, and trusted in God’s unfailing love. David trusted in God. He was flourishing because He trusted in God.

We were not trusting in God. We were thinking of our own gain. We deserved to die and go to hell. But, then, Jesus came down and He died in our place. God forgave us of our sin, because Jesus died and rose again. Now, Jesus intercedes for us. He loved us so much. Now, He is our stronghold (Philippians 4:13). We have been changed! We can no longer trust in money, we trust in God. If we did trust in money, which is the root of evil (1 Timothy 6:10), then it would spread wings and fly (Proverbs 23:5).

Unbelievers are trusting in anything other than God. If you are an unbeliever, then why not come to Christ? Why not trust in Him? He will change you, and He will bless you in so many ways. You will be changed, loved, joy-filled, and happy in Christ. So, come to Jesus if you want to stop running from your sin.

Believers should praise God! He has given His own son for us. He has become our stronghold. He has let us trust in Him. He has saved us from sin. Praise God! Give thanks, for He has given His own son for us! Thank God! Give thanks, for He has loved us! Love Him, and trust in Him! Thank You, Jesus!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for loving me so much. Thank You for being my stronghold. Thank You for giving Your son for me. Thank You for making me Your child. Please help me to love You more. Please help me to rejoice in You. Please help me to praise You more. Please help strengthen me in You. Thank You for blessing me so much. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Verses:

Strong, Philippians 4:13,

“I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”

The love of money, 1 Timothy 6:10,

“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.”

Spread wings and fly, Proverbs 23:5,

“Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone,
    for they will surely sprout wings
    and fly off to the sky like an eagle.”

Beginning verses, Psalm 52:7-8,

““Here now is the man
    who did not make God his stronghold
but trusted in his great wealth
    and grew strong by destroying others!”
But I am like an olive tree
flourishing in the house of God;
I trust in God’s unfailing love
for ever and ever.”

Peace and love, Joy Cleveland
