Hello, God has given me something in Psalm 79:13 which says,
“Then we your people, the sheep of your pasture,
will praise you forever;
from generation to generation
we will proclaim your praise.”
Asaph is now saying that God is their shepherd. He asked God how long. He asked if God would be angry forever. He said to pour out His wrath on the nations that didn’t call out His name. He asked God to pay back seven times the contempt the other nations had hurled at Him. Then His sheep would praise Him forever. Then He flock would proclaim His praise. Asaph said that God was their shepherd now.
Jesus is our Shepherd. In my last post I said that Jesus was the Good Shepherd, not David, and that is true. Jesus is our Shepherd. He is our good Shepherd. But why? Because He gave His own life for us. Asaph is saying that God is even their Shepherd now. No mortal that is only mortal can be the Good Shepherd. Here Asaph is saying that a man isn’t their Shepherd, but God is. Jesus is our Shepherd, for He died on the Cross for us. He laid down His own life for us, His sheep. He gave His life to save us.
Unbelievers are not believing in the Good Shepherd. Unbelievers are like lost lambs who aren’t trusting in the Good Shepherd. They are far from the Flock. But, Jesus the Good Shepherd, goes out and He finds all those who bleat out to Him. If you cry out, then the Good Shepherd will surely find you. No man is good enough to be the Good Shepherd, only Jesus is. So, come to Him. Even Israel changed from having a man as their Shepherd to having God as their Shepherd.
Now, let’s praise Him. Let’s His sheep Praise Him for He is worthy. Our Shepherd gave His own life for us, His sheep. Let’s praise Him! Praise the Lord! Give thanks for He has loved us. He has given His life, so let’s praise the Lord! Thank God for saving us!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for giving Your son for me. Thank You for being my Good Shepherd. Thank You for making me Your child. Please help me to love You more. Please help me to praise You more. Please help me to be more grateful. Please help me to walk with You and talk with You more. Please help me not to be so proud. Thank You for blessing me so much. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Peace and love, Joy Cleveland
