Slow to Anger, Yet Abounding in Love

Hello, God has given me something Psalm 86:16 which says,

“But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God,
slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.”

David is asking God to help him. He said that God is forgiving and abounding in love. In this verse he says that God is a compassionate and gracious God. He said that God was slow to anger and abounding in love and faithfulness. He wants God to hear him, but he also praises God for how good He is. And God is good, and compassionate and gracious, loving, and faithful.

He is loving and slow to anger, but why? God hates sin, and every human (human and only human) sins. He did pour out His wrath. But, not on us. Not on those who sinned. He poured out His wrath on His own son! Why? Why would God pour out His wrath on a perfect one? Because Jesus came and took our sin on Himself. It was as if Jesus sinned, even though He didn’t. He gave us His perfectness and He took our sinfulness, and He died in our place. He loved us so much that He gave His life for us. Now, God is slow to anger, and He is abounding in love and faithfulness.

Unbelievers aren’t saved. Are you an unbeliever? If you are then why not come to Christ? Why not be saved? He is loving and kind, and He can save you from your sin. So, why not come to Him? He is slow to anger, and abounding in Love. Even when we make mistakes God forgives us if we ask for it. He can love you if you just come to Him.

Praise God! He is worthy of praise! He is so loving, and He is slow to anger. He loves us so much, and He saved us! We were poor and needy like David, and we cried for help, and God answered us! He saved us from our sin. He has loved us so much, so let’s praise Him! Praise God!

Prayer: Dear Father,

Thank You for giving Your only son for us. Thank You for pouring out your anger and wrath on Jesus, instead of us. Thank You for being so loving and kind and faithful. I pray that I would love You more. Please help me to love You more. Please help me to praise You more. Please help me to be grateful. Please help me not to be proud. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Peace and love, Joy Cleveland
