Hello, the pastor mentioned the Gospel (and by mentioned I mean it was two sentences). He preached from Acts 14:19-22 which says,
“Then some Jews came from Antioch and Iconium and won the crowd over. They stoned Paul and dragged him outside the city, thinking he was dead. 20 But after the disciples had gathered around him, he got up and went back into the city. The next day he and Barnabas left for Derbe. 21 They preached the gospel in that city and won a large number of disciples. Then they returned to Lystra, Iconium and Antioch, 22 strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith. “We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,” they said.”
He had two points.
1. Detained or destroyed. Basically he said that even though Paul was stoned he was not destroyed. He had a good attitude, and kept on going, he went back into the city. He could have said that Paul was liked Jesus, and he loved the people so much, that even though he knew he might be killed, he went in to save them.
2. Is my life governed by the fact that God has blessed me? We shouldn’t be wining all the time.
We have been blessed by Jesus’ death on the cross!
So, we will keep looking for a church, but can you please pray that we will find one that is completely focused on the Gospel?
Peace and love, Joy Cleveland
