The Fear of the Lord

Hello, God has given me something from Psalm 111:10 which says,

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
    all who follow his precepts have good understanding.
    To him belongs eternal praise.”

David is saying that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. That is so true. Those who fear God are wise, at least in that aspect. Those who don’t fear God are in trouble. But, David  also said that all who follow his precepts have good understanding. Psalm 119:45 says,

“I will walk about in freedom for I have sought out your precepts.”

Yes, if we keep God’s precepts (or the law) we will have freedom, and be perfect. But, have you ever had a bad thought? When you were a baby did you cry for more? Then you broke the law in your selfishness. But don’t despair. There is hope! There is a way! John 14:6 says,

“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Psalm 119:105 says,

“Your word is a lamp for my feet,
    a light on my path.”

Jesus is the way! He gave His very own life that we might live. Now, it as if He sinned (which He never did) and as if we are perfect. His perfectness got transferred to us. Now, we can walk about in freedom, freedom from our sins.

But, back to fearing God. Romans 3:10 and 18 says,

“As it is written:

“There is no one righteous, not even one;
18     “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”[f]”

Not fearing God is a bad thing to do. The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom, so if you want to be wise then fear God.

The last part of the Psalm 111 verse says that eternal praise is His. God deserves eternal praise. We should praise Him. Why? Because He has given His own son for us on the cross! He has loved us so much! Praise God!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for loving me so much. Thank You for letting us walk about in freedom. Please help me always to fear you. Thank You for making me Your daughter. Please help me to love You more. Please help me to rejoice in You. Please help me not to be proud. Thank You for all Your blessings. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Peace and love, Joy Cleveland
