Keep a Record of Sins

Hello, God has given me something in Psalm 130:3-4 which says:

“If you, Lord, kept a record of sins,
    Lord, who could stand?
But with you there is forgiveness,
so that we can, with reverence, serve you.”

The Psalmist is saying that if God kept a record of sins, instead of forgiving and forgetting, then no one could stand, because we would all be put to death because of our sin. But, the Psalmist says, there is forgiveness with God, so that we can serve God. The Psalmist is so right. God is forgiving… but how would he know that? No perfect sacrifice had been given yet. The Psalmist is pointing forward to when Jesus came.

Jesus saved us from our sin! We would have died, because w{e were sinful. But, Jesus came, and He took on all our sin, and He died in our place! He gave His very own life as the perfect sacrifice to atone for our sin! Now, we can stand in God, with Him as our defender, and our Father. He loves us so much that He gave His son for us! John 3:16:

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Jesus gave His life for us, and now, God doesn’t keep a record of sin. He doesn’t remember the wrongs we’ve done, because Jesus has paid for them.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for giving Your son for me. Thank You for not keeping a record of my sins. Thank You for loving me so much, Lord. Please help me to love You more. Please help me to spread the Gospel to others, so that they might find Your love. Thank You for blessing me so much! In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Peace and love, Joy Cleveland
