Swallowed Up

Hello, God has given me something in Jonah 1:17 which says:

“Now the Lord provided a huge fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.”

Jonah has just been thrown overboard by the sailors in order to calm the sea, after thinking that he could run away from God. Now, God has provided a way to keep Jonah alive while in the sea, and later bring him back to Nineveh. God provided a giant fish to swallow Jonah, and he was in the belly of the fish for 3 days and nights.

This is a clear picture of the Gospel. Jonah was in the pit of despair (the belly of the fish) for 3 days an nights. It was dark down there, no light, or food. That’s just like Jesus. Jesus died on the Cross to pay for our sin, and then He was put in a dark grave for 3 days and nights, before He rose again. Jesus was also put in the darkness of our sin, because He was the one who paid for our sin! Praise God!

Jesus was swallowed up by our sin so that we don’t have to be. He died in our place, and shed His blood atoning for our sins. He loved us so much that He gave His own life that we might live. Let’s spread the Gospel to others who are in their sin, and need help.

Dear Father,

Thank You for sending Your son to be swallowed up in my sin for me. Thank You for loving me so much that You made me Your daughter. Please help me to praise You more every day, and to spread the Gospel to those in need. Please help me to rejoice in You no matter what. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Peace and love, Joy Cleveland
