Hi there! Today my sister and I are doing a post together in Habakkuk 2:16 which says:
“16 You will be filled with shame instead of glory.
Now it is your turn! Drink and let your nakedness be exposed!
The cup from the Lord’s right hand is coming around to you,
and disgrace will cover your glory.”
This is a response to Habakkuk; an answer to his complaint. God is telling Habakkuk that the sinful nation (Babylon) that had shamed and plundered other nations would be shamed and plundered. They would be the humiliated now; they would be those exposed and weak.
Because of their sin, Babylon was going to be stripped naked; they would be shamed and exposed, just as they did to others. So were we. We would be stripped and exposed because of our sin too. However, we have a savior. Someone who was stripped, beaten, exposed, and crucified for our sin.
Jesus is the savior who was stripped and exposed for us.He was the one who took our shame. Now we are completely clothed in His righteousness. We truly have gone from naked and stripped, to covered and clean, and we have Jesus to thank.
