Wrath Taken, now we are Strengthened

Hello, today my sister and I are doing our post together on Haggai 2:4-5 which says:

“But now be strong, Zerubbabel,’ declares the Lord. ‘Be strong, Joshua son of Jozadak, the high priest. Be strong, all you people of the land,’ declares the Lord, ‘and work. For I am with you,’ declares the Lord Almighty. 5 ‘This is what I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt. And my Spirit remains among you. Do not fear.’”

God is telling Zerubbabel and Joshua and the people of Israel to be strong, because He is with them. This implies that when God is with us, we can be strong. When God is in us, strengthening us, we can be strong. Philippians 4:13 says:

“I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”

But, since we didn’t have God in us from the beginning, then how do we have Him now? We were separated from God; we were sinners and God hates sin which separates us from God. In fact we were not only separated from Him, God’s wrath would have even been on us! However, God’s wrath was not put on us and we are saved, we are saved because of one who came to take the wrath upon Himself! His name is Jesus, and He took God’s wrath off of us and onto Himself; He atoned for our sins perfectly so that we could live!

The Bible tells us that when Jesus died the curtain separating the Holy Place and the Most Holy Place was torn into from top to bottom. This signifies that now we can talk with God, and now we are not separated from Him. All because Jesus took away the wrath of God!
