Hello, today my sister and I are doing our post together on Zechariah 7:9-10 which says:
““This is what the Lord Almighty said: ‘Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another. 10 Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the foreigner or the poor. Do not plot evil against each other.’”
The Lord is telling Zechariah to “administer true justice” and to show mercy to others. God doesn’t want His people to give justice to those who are weak, and helpless. He wants His people to show mercy to them.
God wants His people to have mercy and compassion on them, but He also wants all those who sin to be punished. So, how can He have both? God did both by sending His son to take the punishment for our sin. He loved us so much that He actually sacrificed His own son for us. God showed mercy to us, and justice to His son.
We have been shown mercy by God, who sent His son to die for us. But we should also show mercy to others; we could not do that on our own because we were sinful, but Jesus is now in our hearts and He helps us to show mercy to others!
Peace and love, Joy Cleveland and,
