Jesus took the Punishment

Hello, today my sister and I are doing our post together on Zechariah 14:12 which says:

“This is the plague with which the Lord will strike all the nations that fought against Jerusalem: Their flesh will rot while they are still standing on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths.”

This is the punishment that would be given to all nations who fought against Jerusalem, and all nations that did not go up to celebrate the festival of Tabernacles and worship the Lord.

This is a horrible punishment. But, we deserve this punishment. We are sinners, who have disobeyed God’s law. We deserve this horrible punishment. But we don’t have to suffer that punishment. We don’t have to have it, because Jesus already has.

Jesus took our punishment. Even though we deserved to die, He took our death. He took on all our sin, and all the wrath of God, and He died for us. Jesus died for us so that we could live; He took away all of the punishment that we would have received!

When you read Zechariah 14:12 and you realize we would have had to go through that because of our sin, and then you are told that Jesus went through it so that you wouldn’t have to; that should make you jump for joy! We are saved because Jesus loved us, and now we can trust in Him and have eternal life with Him in heaven!

Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland and,
Peace and Love, Joy Cleveland
